The Training Challenge

A US energy provider wanted to create a virtual onboarding of their renewable energy site, enabling them to combine an interactive site tour with basic equipment training.

Facilitate 360 scenario power plant

Actions:

  1. Created a virtual tour of the renewable energy plant using Facilitate's 360 Scenario Creator.
  2. Added numerous interactive elements and close-up videos and photos to highlight site or equipment specific procedures.
  3. Combined this with existing 2D material to create an immersive and interactive, onboarding experience.
  4. Replaced in-person onboarding conducted by on-site staff.
  5. Enabled continuous improvement of orientation by L&D staff.

Results:

  • Significantly decreased the cost of onboarding new employees
  • Enabled the safe exploration of site and equipment by avoiding interruption of BAU
  • Improved the employee experience, appealing to a dynamic demographic
