What to Look for in a DET Creation Platform: Part 1 of 3
Part 1: Integrating Multiple Modalities for Realistic Learning
Collaborative learning is a more powerful way to learn than individually; certainly not in all situations but for many workplace scenarios learning together with your colleagues is better. It can be more motivating, generate a broader range of discussion and facilitate problem solving. Whilst asynchronous learning has become the default setting through eLearning, it's often not very realistic in modern workplaces, where teamwork and collaboration are highly important.
This logic is no different when using a highly immersive content modality like VR for example; the benefits of collaborative learning still hold. However, a lot of DET content is based on 'single player' models where an individual interacts with an experience by themselves, reducing its potential efficacy and engagement.
Currently, there are not many market ready DET creation platforms that allow you to self-author the content and then for trainees to access that content collaboratively. Most only allow for asynchronous experiences to be exported; whilst this may be preferred in some cases, such a limitation will undermine the ability to develop training for use cases where collaboration is key.
So when looking for a DET creation platform be sure to check that content can be used collaboratively. Facilitate is a DET creation platform which allows you to deploy created content in both asynchronous and synchronous (collaborative) modes. Moreover, the inclusion of collaboration spaces with lip-synced avatars and audio allow for post-experience debriefing discussions as well as creating a more meaningful connection of remote trainees and subject matter experts. This type of functionality broadens the applicability of any content created, which in turn increases the ROI of content creation and adopting an immersive training medium.
Stay tuned for Part 2, where we'll explore the transformative impact of collaborative learning in Digital Experiential Training (DET). Discover how DET platforms like Facilitate are shaping the future of workplace learning through immersive, team-oriented experiences.
